We all have stories. We all tell ourselves stories. There are stories about why someone did something, stories about who we are, stories about what’s important in this life, stories about right and wrong, and stories about what kind of person someone is. Often we want to write off another person’s story because it conflicts with our own. As if their experience has the ability to invalidate ours. That’s another story we tell ourselves. That the story we’re telling is The Truth instead of it being enough for it to be My Truth.
It’s hard to know when a story starts or ends because everything is tied together. I try to remember that. Everything is tied together. All of this is a web. The threads to our lives start before we take our first breath. When we’re born we’re stepping into the middle of a story; the meaning of our lives tangled in the generations before and after us.
